The federal government requires individuals to possess security clearances to perform various functions, including those often performed by contractors. Obtaining a personnel security clearance (PCL) can significantly expand a contractor’s bidding opportunities in the federal marketplace.
This training will provide an introductory overview of the requirements and processes for obtaining a PCL, including:
- The three main types of PCLs for contractor employees
- Big-picture eligibility factors for PCLs
- Overview of the SF-86 questionnaire (and a brief preview of the pending Personnel Vetting Questionnaire)
- The PCL review process, including background investigation, polygraphs, and medical and/or credit checks
- The PCL approval process, including the differences between interim and final PCLs, and appeal options if a PCL application is denied
- Maintaining the PCL and the government’s ongoing move to continuous vetting of PCL holders
